Earlier this year one of the “Top Four” iron-ore mines in the Pilbara approached H & B with a request to solve an ongoing maintenance issue they had with inaccessible return idler rolls. The existing return idler arrangement allowed for access from one side of the conveyor only, making roller change out impossible.

H & B harnessed their already tried and tested EMRI retractable idler design to solve the problem.

H & B Mining’s ‘Easy Maintenance Retractable Idler’ provides safe, simple and quick access to all rollers for maintenance. The original EMRI was successfully adapted for return idler roller maintenance and now the EMRI design has been further modified to suit return idlers with access from one side of the conveyor only.

The new Return EMRI was custom designed to allow for one-sided access which includes a set of adjoined retractable roller trolleys, an end trolley that contains a self-locating mechanism and a self-contained belt lifter. The belt lifter is raised to support the belt whilst the adjoined trolleys are retracted to allow for access all return idler rolls for inspection and change-out.
