The strongest retractable idler on the planet has finally touched down; H & B Mining’s ‘Easy Maintenance Retractable Idler’ (EMRI). The EMRI boasts access to all rollers for roller change out, in a matter of minutes. The largest installation of the EMRI to date, was recently completed.

The massive upgrade of four conveyor transfers at a top tier iron-ore mine in WA’s Pilbara included the installation of over 250 impact EMRIs and 50 return EMRIs. H and B completed all design and supply of the EMRI and had expert staff on-site to support installation. The upgrade also incorporated H&B’s revolutionary post-less guarding system which provides 100 percent clear and free access for maintenance to all skirts and idlers.

H&B Mining’s Managing Director, Eddy Hodgkinson commented “This is next level design; it will save the mines millions of dollars in shut down time, whilst also providing a cleaner and safer operational and maintenance environment to work in”.

It is one small step for this mine and potentially a giant leap for all mines that follow suit.
