Twenty two years in the conveyor transfer design and supply business and H & B Mining find themselves in the enviable position of supplying Roy Hill with four of their seven ‘Easy Maintenance’ conveyor products which are currently available to the Australian mining industry.

These include the drop down conveyor idler, the segmented conveyor skirt, the ‘Eco Light’ conveyor skirt liner and the hinged dust cover. H & B Mining conveyor idlers, skirts, liners and dust covers have been incorporated as standard design for the new state of the art Roy Hill mine in Australia’s Pilbara. Consultant mechanical engineering firm Amec Services won the Roy Hill contract in 2013 and proposed the ‘Easy Maintenance’ conveyor products for inclusion in the project from the very start.

The Roy Hill management/maintenance team approved utilisation of the H & B Mining conveyor products at all conveyor transfer points in 2014.

‘Easy Maintenance’ drop down conveyor idlers, segmented conveyor skirts and hinged dust covers are being progressively installed at all Roy Hill conveyor transfer points most of which have been completed in the first part of 2015 (pictured above).

Roy Hill now follows a similar path to the ‘Big Three’ iron ore miners in the Pilbara: BHP Billiton, Rio Tinto and FMG. A number of H & B ‘Easy Maintenance’ products including conveyor idlers (drop down and drop down retractable), dust covers, conveyor skirts and conveyor guards have been adopted as standard on BHP Billiton, Rio Tinto and FMG mine sites. Needless to say Eddy Hodgkinson, the managing director of H & B Mining is pleased with the outcome. ‘Although it’s been a long journey, it has been a worthwhile one,’ he said. ‘Everyone’s a winner when you incorporate any or all of our easy maintenance conveyor products.
